Why is Benjamin Franklin an important figure to study in American History?

I’m writing an essay and I have writer’s block.

If you have writer’s block then having contributor’s tell you things you already know wont help you. Ask yourself why Franklin was different from the rest of the noted persons of his time. Ask yourself how you would tell others about who the man was, how he was ahead of his time and what impact he had on society. Would society have been able to enter the Industrial Revolution without his discoveries?
